We are seeking an experienced hands-on Safety Officer to join an Australian owned company who specialises in designing and fabricating steel structures across Australia for over 20 years. This role would suit a passionate and enthusiastic Safety Officer that understands that compliance is the foundation on which to build a healthy and engaged workforce.

Reporting to People & Culture Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement and review safe work procedures, safe work method statements and risk assessments.
  • Assist with internal and external audits across the business to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist with the induction process for new employees, ensuring they understand WHS requirements.
  • Assist with Incident Investigations as required including reporting & corrective actions
  • Have an understanding of injury management including return to work plans and workers compensation
  • Actively train and assist with coaching managers and staff
  • Assist with conducting regular inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Work alongside and assist the Safety & QA Coordinator with collating data for monthly Safety Reporting
  • Participate in monthly toolbox meetings in office/factory

To be considered for the opportunity, we are seeking:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a safety officer role or similar.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety(WHS) or currently working towards obtaining this qualification.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous organisational and leadership ability with the ability to build effective team relationships
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with tools and machinery used in production settings
