Key Responsibilities
As a Housing Officer, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred social housing services to a diverse client base.
- Conduct client interviews, assess housing applications, and refer clients to appropriate support services.
- Manage property waitlists, allocations, and vacancies while ensuring compliance with tenancy agreements.
- Assist with property inspections, tenancy visits, and the resolution of disputes or complaints.
- Monitor and manage rent assessments, arrears, pay deductions, and debt collections.
- Oversee property maintenance activities and ensure records and file notes are accurate and up to date.
Skills & Experience
To excel in this role, you’ll bring:
- Customer Service Expertise (face to face): Proven ability to build rapport, listen actively, demonstrate empathy, and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Administration Skills: Strong background in office administration, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and multitask across multiple applications.
- Property Management Knowledge: Experience in property management is an advantage but not essential.
- Work Management: Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability: Willingness to embrace new challenges and adapt to changing priorities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Inclusive communication and interpersonal abilities, focusing on ethical and culturally sensitive interactions.
- Attention to Detail: High levels of accuracy and fast, efficient keyboarding skills.
- Team Player Attitude: Positive and flexible approach, ready to support different tasks to meet organisational needs.
- Availability: Ability to work 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, and start with short notice.
