A temporary opportunity has become available to join a Queensland Government team delivering a range of services that make a real difference to the lives of Queenslanders, supporting effective service delivery, compliance, and community outcomes within the housing sector.
An AO4 Senior Housing Officer within the Inspection Team is responsible for conducting property inspections, managing tenancy compliance, coordinating maintenance and contractor activities, supporting vulnerable tenants, and resolving complex tenancy and property management matters in line with housing legislation and departmental procedures. This includes:
- Conduct routine, entry, exit, and property condition inspections
- Identify maintenance, safety, and tenancy issues
- Prepare inspection reports and follow-up actions
- Liaise with tenants, contractors, and maintenance teams
- Manage breaches of tenancy agreements and compliance matters
- Support vulnerable tenants and resolve housing concerns
- Coordinate repairs and monitor contractor performance
- Maintain accurate records and case notes
- Apply housing policies, legislation, and departmental procedures
- Assist with complex tenancy and property management matters
To be considered for this role, we are seeking the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in property management (supported by a relevant qualification and/or exposure to community housing advantageous).
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills (with a focus on professional, ethical and culturally sensitive behaviour) with demonstrated experience (and examples) working in an environment that required you to provide support, assistance or services to people with complex needs facing hardship.
- Client service experience (face-to-face) with proven ability to actively listen, build rapport, demonstrate patience and empathy and de-escalate challenging customer interactions.
- Proven ability to pick up new systems and technology quickly and navigate multiple applications, screens and devices efficiently.
- Proven experience and examples of working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to support and share knowledge acting as coach, mentor and/or role-model.
- Willingness to embrace new challenges and adapt to change.
- Availability to commence at short notice.

This is a temporary role to commence (1 month duration, may extend) and we are seeking availability to work a full-time casual roster Monday to Friday (casual hourly rate of $60.05 + super).
