We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager/Bookkeeper for a permanent role within an Independent School located in Springfield. The Finance Manager will play an integral part in fostering a positive, effective, and efficient educational environment that is deeply connected to First Nations cultures. This position works collaboratively as part of a team and operates in consultation with, and under the guidance of, the Business Services Manager and the Chief Executive Officer.
The position responsibilities include;
- Processing end‑to‑end payroll, maintain staff records, leave balances and ensure compliance with taxation and superannuation requirements.
- Responding to queries, via telephone and email correspondence.
- Process invoices and reimbursements, reconcile supplier statements, and manage timely payment runs.
- Issue invoices, process receipts, monitor outstanding balances, and assist families with billing enquiries.
- Debt Management (debt collection and control strategy, implementation and reporting).
- Manage purchasing processes, raise and track purchase orders and ensure adherence to school procurement policies.
- Support month‑end tasks, maintain accurate financial records and assist with audits and budgeting.
- Keep abreast of all local, State and Federal Government policies, regulations and legislation in so far as they affect the school, including taxation legislation in relation to GST, FBT, deductible donations (e.g.,building funds and scholarships).
- General administration duties
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
- TASS (The Alpha School System) experience is highly regarded, or experience with other accounting software and a demonstrated ability to adapt to new systems is recommended.
- Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration, or a similar finance role.
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with parents and resolve payment issues.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic school environment.
