Blue Dog Training is seeking an experienced and motivated Trainer & Assessor to deliver the QBCC Approved Managerial Course. This is a fantastic opportunity to step off the tools while remaining closely connected to the construction industry, working alongside a highly experienced team of trainers who are all passionate tradespeople.

You’ll be joining an established and supportive RTO where your industry experience will play a key role in developing the next generation of Queensland builders and construction professionals.

In this role, you will deliver engaging online training and provide end-to-end assessment support across the 11 key competency areas of the QBCC Managerial Course. The position combines supporting training delivery, mentoring, assessment marking, and regulatory guidance to ensure students successfully meet licensing requirements and gain the confidence to operate within the Queensland construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Delivery

  • Independently manage a cohort of students, including onboarding, regular check-ins, and ongoing support
  • Respond to student enquiries via phone and email in a timely, professional manner
  • Translate complex regulatory and business concepts into practical, trade-relevant learning
  • Support and deliver training activities, with future scope for live, real-time sessions

Assessment Support

  • Guide students through assignments and course requirements
  • Assess written, video, and scenario-based submissions
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress and completion
  • Participate in verbal and scenario-based assessment activities, including negotiation exercises

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Provide guidance on QBCC licensing, contracts, and Queensland construction legislation
  • Support understanding of compliance, workplace health and safety, and regulatory standards

Student Support & Compliance

  • Act as the primary student contact throughout the learning journey
  • Mentor learners to improve engagement and completion outcomes
  • Maintain accurate RTO-compliant records
  • Ensure all assessment evidence is correctly documented and audit-ready

About You:

You are an experienced construction industry professional who enjoys sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and helping people succeed. You can confidently translate technical, legal, and compliance requirements into clear, practical guidance for trade-based learners.

You will bring:

  • Strong background in the Queensland construction or trade industry
  • Practical understanding of QBCC licensing requirements and regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, compliance, and workplace health and safety standards
  • Ideally experience as a site supervisor, foreperson, project manager, or qualified tradesperson ready to move into training
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent, or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts
  • A supportive, patient, and mentoring-focused approach to adult learning
